Isis & Bear (Loop Animation)

28/04/2011

For this project we were asked to create an animation which use loops. I came up an idea about the character was taking photos with her Poladroid. In the photo she was holding her Poladroid. Then the image of her in the photo started to take photos. So it would come back to the beginning of the animation again and again. I didn’t get this idea done because this was the first time that I use After Effects. I didn’t know much about how to achieve my idea. So it turned like a story of a girl and a ghost bear. But I enjoyed playing around with the images of my dolls and the style I like. Animating is still my pain though.

PROJECT BRIEF: Space + Environment

Space, Environment, Spatiality, Window, Infinite Canvas, Cyberspace, Landscape, Branching, Scrolling, Realistic, Virtual, Explore, Navigate, Discover

MOTIVE:

Space is one of the defining elements of digital media. Space and Environment are the very important medium of conveying the mood, establishing the style, revealing information and helping the storytelling in either linear or interactive works.

MEANS:

Create an interactive work of a space or environment. It can be a 3D digital environment which allows the viewer to explore around or a device of scrolling for the participant to navigate. Please be creative! Think about the ideal place you want to go, the weird scene in your dream or the wonderland you want to live. This space or environment can be any style that you like, interior or outdoor, realistic or surreal. Consider how the other elements such as color, sound and light convey the topics, themes or ideas. Consider aesthetics and behaviors appropriate to the medium.

MEDIA:

The chosen media is up to you.

Interactive submissions will have varying formats/technologies, but if possible use 1280×720.

Submissions need to be submitted to the AIM server, clearly named and titled. Each project submission requires a completed RMIT submission form.

Submission Date: April 27th 2011

Think Pink (Generative Animation)

13/04/2011

This project was about creating a generative animation. I’ve never done anything like this before but I was very excited. I saw some very beautiful fractal pictures when I was downloading the wallpapers for my iPhone. Then I thought maybe I could make a simple fractal animation as the response for this project. This was the first time I engaged with fractal. By changing the parameters the software will generate different shapes which is a magic. I enjoyed the process very much.

911 Call (Character Animation)

08/04/2011

I heard a funny dialogue on my colleague Snow’s blog. It was about a 4 years old boy calling 911 emergencies for help with his math homework. Then I decided to make a lip synch animation based on this dialogue in response to my third project of Concept Development. Animating is always my weakness so I’d like to take this chance to practice. I was very happy to give life and characteristic to this character through the lip synch animation. It was fun to guess and manipulate the character’s emotion, action and gesture.

Wishlist (200 Drawings)

14/03/2011

I’ve started my master study in Australia and I have to practice English again. My first deadline was to produce 200 drawings in any style or technique in one week and they should be displayed as a sequence with soundtrack. The outcome was inspired by human desire. As we grow up our wishlists change. After my boyfriend heard about my idea, he said it seemed that I always wanted to make some kind of meaningful stuff which was not necessary. Anyway, I have to say this project was really a rush. I didn’t have enough time to achieve what I wanted to express. By the way, this was the first time I seriously used Wacom pen and touch to draw. It was a bit tough at the beginning but 10 minutes later I started to enjoy it.
